Video in Social Media: an interview with Jonathan Kitchen of Brave Bison

Back to articles

You don’t have to be too intelligent to figure out that video is playing a bigger and bigger role in social media these days. Here are a few statistics that paint the picture:

  • 1.57 billion YouTube users watch 5 billion videos on average every single day.
  • Over 500 million people are watching videos on Facebook every day.
  • More than 10 billion videos are viewed daily on Snapchat.
  • By 2019, 80% of all internet traffic will come from video.

On social, video is essentially becoming the go-to form of communication between people. From Stories (across Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook), to live video chat, to the hugely share-able GIF format, video is the content format of choice. It’s accessible and engaging and it’s a format that is only going one way – up!

A few week’s back we got to speak to Jonathan Kitchen of Brave Bison, on this very subject! Listen to the full episode below:

Listen & learn…

Apart from finding out whether Jonathan would rather battle one horse-sized duck or a hundred duck-sized horses (in our ‘fast-five’ segment at the start of this episode), listen in to learn:

Brave Bison is THE social video company

brave-bison

They work with brands, creators and platforms to create, distribute and monetise video that’s fit for
a digital world.

They understand how video on the internet and on social works and how people use it. They’re an agency who keep on top of how culture feeds the internet and vice versa by working with creators and publishing Social Video on social platforms day in, day out.

Jonathan is Commercial Director at Brave Bison. Previously head of Sales at LADbible Group, Jon regularly presents at industry events and conferences including Advertising Week in the US and Europe. Advertising week Europe is where we had the pleasure of being at a panel discussion which Jon facilitated, where many of the same topics as discussed in this podcast episode were touched on!
